For most of us, change is frightening. We all want to know what to expect and how to prepare for the road ahead. For individuals entering addiction recovery, this fear of change can be paralyzing and often acts as an obstacle to recovery that prevents many from seeking the treatment they need to heal. They may worry they can’t handle daily life without drugs or alcohol, or that their friends and family won’t stand by them as they recover.

Fortunately, the journey to recovery isn’t one you have to take alone. You wouldn’t climb a mountain or learn how to deep-sea dive on your own, and healing from addiction is no different. For any of these adventures, you would want a trusted and experienced partner by your side that supports and guides you throughout the process. You would want someone familiar with the potential dangers and pitfalls you may encounter and how to handle or avoid them. At the Detox Center of Colorado, we strive to fill the role of partner and guide as you take your first steps toward a life free from drugs and alcohol.

About the Detox Center of Colorado

The Detox Center of Colorado is your ally in recovery, here to help you navigate the chaos of addiction and emerge with your confidence, independence and sobriety intact. Founded as a collective effort to unite high-level medical personnel and addiction specialists in one facility, we share the goal of helping patients find long-term, sustainable recovery from substance use disorders. By utilizing the cooperative efforts of a diverse and highly experienced team of dedicated professionals, we have greatly expanded our ability to provide those still suffering from addiction the comprehensive care they need to heal.

The Detox Center of Colorado was designed to optimize addiction recovery. Located in an undisclosed area near Denver, our comfortable facility features amenities and services that create an inviting environment to help our guests feel welcomed, cared for and valued. Our detox program admits eight patients at a time to ensure unparalleled personalization, one-on-one attention and privacy. This fosters a close-knit community of recovery-minded individuals and allows us to adopt specialized approaches that distinctly meet the unique needs of each patient. To help patients overcome the barriers that stand in the way to long-term recovery, we utilize a combination of medical assessments, collaborative opportunities and treatment planning that goes above and beyond the requirements of a subacute detox facility. We’ve also adopted an interactive approach that allows our team to keep each patient’s family up-to-date with their loved one’s progress as they make lasting, positive changes in their life.

A Strong Foundation for Long-Term Recovery

Healing from addiction starts with detox. Although detox is a standard part of the treatment process that is often overlooked, a positive experience in this early stage of recovery has a huge impact on your long-term sobriety. Behavioral therapies and other treatment modalities commonly used in recovery aren’t likely to succeed if you still have drugs or alcohol in your system or are continuing to struggle with withdrawal. An individual who hasn’t successfully completed detox will be distracted in recovery, unable to commit to the process. Their chemical dependency will still linger, making it difficult to resist cravings and focus on healing. That’s why we believe that detox should be about more than gritting your teeth and waiting for withdrawal to end.

Our dedicated team understands the impact that a productive and positive detox experience can have on patients, providing a strong foundation for deep and lasting recovery. Due to this, we go to great lengths to ensure your comfort throughout the process, utilizing evidence-based strategies, medication-assisted treatment and a variety of therapies that will support you during your stay with us. Symptom management and relapse prevention are especially emphasized and medical care is available around the clock should you need it. The level of care each patient receives can be adjusted, making the detox process substantially easier and more effective as it narrows in on an individual’s specific needs, goals and challenges.

We recognize the difference that a positive detox experience can make in an individual’s recovery, but we also know that it isn’t an effective stand-alone solution for substance use disorders. To ensure that our patients achieve the long-term sobriety they deserve, we help to organize and coordinate post-detox care for a smooth transition into an appropriate treatment program. Each patient’s recovery team will work closely with them to identify individual treatment goals, consider financial or familial obligations, assess their unique needs and much more to determine an appropriate level of care. We also collaborate with treatment providers to develop a plan for each patient, with the goal of having everything in place at the time of discharge. Patients stay with us an average of three to 10 days, giving us plenty of time to coordinate care and prevent a rebound into crisis mode.

Getting those who are struggling with addiction into formal treatment immediately after detox is crucial to maintaining sobriety. During this time, patients are vulnerable to relapsing and the complications that could arise as a result, such as overdosing. It’s also important to help patients maintain their focus and remember why they chose to begin treatment in the first place — temptations and reminders are abundant in early recovery and it’s easy to lose motivation and slip back into old habits without the support and guidance of a treatment center. Learning how to avoid or cope with such triggers and cravings is an important part of recovery, giving patients the tools they need to pursue a happy, healthy life free from addiction.
